Cloud Cuckooland at Dixon Place
Work in Progress played May 2nd, 2014. Text and lyrics by Matthew Freeman. Conceived and Directed by Djahari Clark, “Cloud Cuckooland” is a new fable inspired by ancient Greek tragedies. A tragic love story about escapism and its collision with reality, performed as dance with puppetry, spoken word, song, and a live original score. Collaborators include composer/musicians David Kammerer and Damon Ketron, Puppet Master Jesse Kingsley, and Playwright Matthew Freeman. The powerful alliance of these unique artists emerges as a transformative artistic expression of euphoria and sorrow as they explore humanity’s defensive behavior and its ramifications when confronted with the possibility of pain and loss.
